A Sustainable Cycle Route

In September 2025, the Treviso-Ostiglia Greenway was awarded the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) Destination Certification for the section managed by the Route Manager, extending from Treviso to Grisignano di Zocco, including the municipality of Montegalda.

An international certification

This internationally recognised certification acknowledges the destination's commitment to environmental protection, the enhancement of cultural heritage, the well-being of local communities and the promotion of responsible tourism.

However, sustainability is not a destination but a journey of continuous improvement. It is a shared commitment involving public authorities, tourism operators, businesses, associations, residents and visitors. Through everyday choices, everyone can help make the Treviso-Ostiglia Greenway an even more welcoming, inclusive and sustainable destination.

In this section, you will find our Sustainability Report, the Greenway Management Plan, resources for tourism operators, guidance on responsible travel, and a collection of initiatives and good practices that showcase the destination's sustainability journey and encourage everyone to play an active role.

The Treviso–Ostiglia is an infrastructure that crosses diverse territories, changing landscapes, and dynamic communities: it is a path that connects people, stories, and ideas.
But it aims to be much more: a public space capable of generating widespread well-being, enhancing what already exists while respecting what is yet to come.

For this reason, as Managing Body, we have started a certification process according to the international GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Councilstandards, globally recognized for evaluating the sustainability of tourist destinations.
It is an ambitious and complex process that involves public institutions, private operators, citizens, and travelers. A multi-stakeholder, shared journey to promote a new model of tourism experience: more mindful, accessible, inclusive, and respectful of places.

In these pages, you will find a summary of our commitment, the main milestones, and some tools to take part in person.

Sustainability is not a final goal, but a daily choice that concerns us all.

Sustainability is a Shared Responsibility

Sustainability is not a one-way goal; it is a shared responsibility that involves all of us—public authorities, tourism operators, businesses, residents and visitors—in protecting the places we value and supporting the communities that call them home.

With this commitment in mind, the Route Manager of the Treviso-Ostiglia Greenway has embarked on a certification journey based on the internationally recognised standards of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), the world's leading reference for sustainable destination management.

What is GSTC Certification and Why Does It Matter?

GSTC Certification is an internationally recognised framework for assessing the sustainability of tourism destinations. It is based on four key pillars:

  • Sustainable Management
  • Socio-economic Sustainability
  • Cultural Heritage Protection
  • Environmental Conservation

Our ambition is to make the Treviso-Ostiglia Greenway the first GSTC-certified cycle route in the world, recognised for the quality of its governance and its commitment to people, local communities and the environment.

Our Vision

The Treviso-Ostiglia Greenway is much more than a cycling route. It is a connected territorial system that links villages, landscapes, communities and cultural heritage across the Veneto Region.

As the Route Manager, we are committed to coordinating a multi-level and multi-stakeholder governance model that promotes slow tourism, accessibility and sustainable development, while enhancing residents' quality of life and providing meaningful experiences for visitors.

Our commitment to sustainability is not a final destination but a shared journey of continuous improvement, built through collaboration, responsibility and care for the places we all enjoy.
